What the heck is Twitter anyway?

Not doubt you’ve been hearing a LOT about Twitter lately.

You may have already taken a look at it and figured it was just a huge waste of your time.

I thought that at first too, and for the first 4 months I had a Twitter account, I did little with it.

Then one day it hit me after using Twitter for about 3 days.

I said to myself, “This twitter thing is going to be a monster!” Turns out I was right.

Seems like you can’t turn on the radio or TV news without hearing about it.

If you are like many people you might be wondering what the heck is TWITTER.

In a nutshell, Twitter one of the most revolutionary communications tools ever because it combines the following:

- Blogging (Twitter is actually Micro Blogging)
- SMS text messaging
- Instant Messaging
- Email Broadcasting
- Chat Rooms
- Communities Forums and Social Networks
- Personal Email
- Search
- Viral Marketing
- Research
- A highly additive form of community
- Relationship builder

This all adds up to most powerful, and most incredible communication tool ever made.

But first off let me get this point out.

YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND what the heck TWITTER is until you:

1 – Get your own Twitter account – (It’s free)

2 – Follow 10 people you like

3 – And make your first “Tweet”

I also HIGHLY recommend you install a free software called “TweetDeck” (Google it)

“TweetDeck” allows you to use Twitter more effectively, sort of like a an Instant Messenger Client like Yahoo Instant
Messenger or AIM etc…

So what should you “Tweet” about?

Well, just about anything you want.

- What you are reading now.
- Ask a question
- Take a poll
- What you thought of a TV show you just watched
- When your new website is going to launch
- Ask what is a good name for your new book
- A picture of your cat
- Ask what are the top 10 MUST HAVE Twitter Apps.
- Reply to someone else’s tweet.
- Retweet someone else’s tweet that you like.

YOU NAME IT…

Use Twitter for a day or so and you’ll see that Twitter will become a serious have tool for your business and even your life.

Start using it and start ‘tweeting’ and watch how people will start to follow you.

Here’s a hint: Reply to other peoples Tweets with interesting stuff, and people will find you.

Here’s why:

When that person replies, all of their followers will see YOUR name and figure, that they’d better follow you too if so and so is.

Example if You reply to me. I may reply back with something like:

@JaneDoe, Did you like the movie I suggested? The other one staring Clint Eastwood comes out next week.

Now all of my followers will see JaneDoe’s name and can follow him with 1 click!

And now Jane Doe can communicate with all these new followers that she got by replying to me.

I know it’s a little confusing at first. But play with it for a day and you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

When I first started using Twitter it took me weeks to get to 1000 people following me.

But it gets easier everyday. And most of my Twitter traffic is now on automatic thanks to a few free web apps I’ll tell you about later.

I now average about 75 new followers per day – and I don’t do a thing.
