Do you own your Brand on the Web?

I have to ask you 3 simple questions about the future of your business:

1: Do you own your product or company name on YouTube?

2: Do you own your brand or personal name on Squidoo?

3: How would you feel if a competitor owned your name on Twitter?

I think you see where I am going with this…

Online it is very important that you control your personal, brand or product name because if you don’t – someone else will.

It’s call ‘cyber-squatting’ and it could be happening to you right now and you’d never even know it until it was too late.

Just imagine, going to blogger.com or Myspace.com and trying to create a new account for your company, your product name or brand and being told “USERNAME TAKEN.”

It happens every day. Worse still most web 2.0 sites do very little about it unless your brand or product name is trademarked.

Even then, you have to jump through one hoop after another to get your username back.

Now imagine having to do that for over a hundred sites this month and for the dozens that pop up every month.
